Lenticular animations
Posted in Announcements, Work in progress on March 20th, 2009 by AlexYes I know what you’re thinking. What does that long word with an L mean? Well remember the swathe of birthday cards, movie posters etc in the 90s which changed as you walked past them? They used to be simple flips between one image and another. Something like Happy, then Birthday, depending on the angle you held your novelty card at. Things have moved on and although those flips still exist, a couple of companies worldwide are now offering full motion. I’m currently coming to the end of the first batch of designs for promotional lenticular products, each with 25 frames of movement in. I have samples on my desk and am continually fascinated by how they work.
Anyhow, once things have gone to print and the products are out there, I’ll let you good people see a few.
Here’s a rather fascinating piece of bedtime reading: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lenticular_printing
12th April Update:
I have it on good authority that these things are printed and looking rather ace. I shall have a look at some samples in the coming week hopefully and see if I can get a video or two up here about them!
